St. Luke's Partnership
St. Luke’s Miners Campus is proud to be a partner of the Panther Valley School District since 2013, working to connect students, families, and community members to care and collaborating to measurably improve health outcomes.
This partnership aligns with St. Luke’s Department of Community Health to engage the school district as the hub of the community to improve access and connection to care, services, education, and vital resources for students and families. This includes medical, dental, vision, mental health, and substance use disorder services, as well as opportunities for leadership and workforce development for interested students and families.
Since 2013, this partnership has continually strengthened, with significant growth to St. Luke’s and the Department of Community Health’s services and initiatives provided to the Panther Valley Community.
Examples of these initiatives include:
- St. Luke’s Community Health school-based staff available to assist any student/family in connecting to care or resources
- Star Community Health Dental Van and prevention education
- Vision voucher program to provide eye exams and glasses to students with barriers to receiving these services through a partnership with Houser Newman
- YESS (Your Emotional Strength Supported) program to offer school-based outpatient mental health services through St. Luke’s Penn Foundation
- Comprehensive Sports Medicine program and Sports Performance training available
- Monthly food pantry at Panther Valley Elementary and Necessities Nook at Panther Valley Jr/Sr High School
- Engaging students and families in volunteer and workforce development opportunities such as Step Up Panthers, CareerLinking Academy, and Healthcare Career Exploration course
- School wellness and physical activity initiatives such as Read Across America, Blue Mountain Community Day, and Get Your Tail on the Trail
- School attendance initiatives
Family Development Specialist
Shawn Jones serves as the St. Luke’s Community Health Family Development Specialist
Shawn is available for students, families, and staff of the Panther Valley community to connect to healthcare, food, housing, or other support services. He works with school staff and local partners, such as Carbon County Children and Youth, to make sure families feel supported and students can focus on learning.
How Shawn can help:
- Talk with students and families to understand their needs.
- Help connect to doctors, counselors, food programs, housing help, and more.
- Follow up to make sure you are connected to resources.
- Use translation services if English is not your first language.
- Show you how to use tools like findhelp to find free or low-cost services.
- Connect to educational and employment resources or volunteer opportunities.

St. Luke's Find Help -findhelp is a tool to connect you to community resources you may need. From financial assistance, food pantry locations, medical care to resources for pregnant women/new mothers, you can search for free or reduced cost services available in a language you can understand.
